This “CMS Royale” project will power 4 identical demo websites or applications with 4 different CMSs, Sanity, Payload, Directus, and Hygraph, letting teams and clients easily explore each CMS’s strengths while providing a tangible benchmark for training, sales, and thought leadership.
The Big Idea
Let’s build four identical demo websites, each powered by one of Umain’s preferred CMSs:
Sanity, Payload, Directus, and Hygraph
By keeping the frontend/app, design system, and content exactly the same, we’ll create a clear, hands-on way to explore and compare how each CMS performs from both a technical and content authoring perspective. We want to use Umains Mainstage design system for simplicity.
The Problem We Want to Solve
Right now, CMS discussions are often abstract – we talk about schemas, APIs, and usability, but we don’t have a shared, tangible frame of reference. This makes it harder for our teams (and our clients) to truly understand the differences in workflows, strengths, and trade-offs across platforms.
The Dream Outcome
For teams: a living learning tool to explore CMS usability and tech stacks side by side.
For clients: a clear, confidence-building demo that makes our CMS partnerships tangible.
For Eidra: content we can reuse in sales, training, and thought-leadership — showing what “good” CMS experiences look like in practice.
Who It's For
Developers who want to sharpen cross-CMS competence.
Designers and content authors curious about real authoring flows.
Sales and strategy teams looking for concrete demos to support client conversations.
Sister companies across Eidra who need a benchmark when choosing CMSs.
People that want to learn more about other expertises within Eidra
Why It Matters
This idea creates value on multiple levels:
Competence building: shared understanding of how our partner CMSs compare in real use.
Client trust: tangible demos that go beyond slides and buzzwords.
Thought leadership: reusable material for blog posts, pitches, and internal training.
